Steel Pan Drum Ensemble & Funshop

For: students aged 7 -14

Dates: June 5 – June 9

            June 12 – June 16

            June 26 – June 30

Times: 9am – 12pm

                      or

              1pm – 4pm

Cost: $225 per week

Location: RPS Campus

Students will learn to play fun and simple melodies on the steel pan drums, while accompanied by instructor Amy Schindler playing acoustic guitar.  They will build their confidence and create a musical ensemble. Participants will sing and play colorful folksongs, including “One Love” by Jamaica’s, Bob Marley. Students will have the opportunity to explore, demonstrate and create their own songs. They will be introduced to basic elements of music notation and how to play a simple scale. Students will explore the history, music and origin of the steel pan drum, while learning about the culture and people from the Caribbean Islands. (Limit 12 students, if this fills we will open another class).
