Rutgers Prep Boys Lacrosse strives to prepare our student athletes for life beyond athletics by teaching them hard work, dedication, fair play. The coaching staff instills in our players a love the sport and an understanding that the team will always come before the individual.
In the past 10 years, Rutgers Prep Lacrosse has won 3 NJISAA (Prep B) state championships, 1 NJSIAA State Championship and reached the Tournament of Champions Semifinals.
Rutger Prep Lacrosse players have earned All-State, All-American and Academic All-American honors. Alumni currently play lacrosse at Dartmouth, West Point, Richmond, Bucknell, Lemoyne, Lynchburg, Haverford, Belloit, Kean, Wentworth Institute of Technology and NJIT.
New Head Coach Ryan Klipstein brings a wealth of college coaching and playing experience to the Argonauts. Kilpstein spent the 2013 and 2014 seasons as an assistant coach at Penn. He played an instrumental role in the Quakers winning the Ivy League championship for the first time since 1988 and earning an appearance in the NCAA Tournament with a program-high fourth seed. The team went 19-9 over the course of his two years at the school. He served as the face-off coach and the team’s face-off winning percentage increased from 42 percent to 56 percent.
Before coaching at Penn, Klipstein spent a year at Williams College where he was the Ephs' offensive coordinator and recruiting coordinator for the 2012 season.
Klipstein played his college lacrosse at Bucknell. A midfielder and attackman, he was a senior captain for the Bison in 2011 when they went 14-3 overall winning the Patriot League championship and earning the automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. Klipstein was the team's leading scorer in all three categories that season, with 32 goals and 21 assists for 53 points, and earned second-team All-Patriot League as well as a Patriot League All-Tournament selection. At the end of the season, he was chosen to play in the USILA North/South All-Star Game, and Bucknell was ranked seventh in the final USILA national poll. Klipstein was a first-team All-Patriot League selection as a junior, after he scored 34 goals and tallied seven assists. His 34 goals were the most in Bucknell history by a midfielder. He also tied a program and Patriot League record that season for goals in a game, scoring eight versus Lafayette. For his career, Klipstein tallied 118 points. He was a recipient of the Patriot League Sportsmanship Award in 2010.
A native of Califon, N.J., he graduated from Bucknell as a double major in education and economics.
